Cobalt Nitrate FAQ

Which petroleum catalysts use cobalt nitrate?

Cobalt nitrate is mainly used as a catalyst precursor in petroleum refining, especially for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) catalysts.

How does cobalt nitrate work in catalysts?

Cobalt nitrate is not an active catalyst itself. It is impregnated onto carriers such as alumina, then calcined to form cobalt oxide. After sulfidation, it becomes active Co-Mo or Co-W catalysts for desulfurization and denitrification.

What are the main functions of cobalt nitrate?

• Provides a stable cobalt source for catalyst preparation
• Forms active centers with molybdenum or tungsten
• Improves desulfurization efficiency
• Fairsky supplies high-purity cobalt nitrate suitable for catalyst manufacturing

Does cobalt nitrate cake easily?

Yes. Cobalt nitrate is highly deliquescent and can easily absorb moisture, leading to caking.

How can deliquescence be reduced?

Producing larger crystals and using moisture-proof sealed packaging can reduce deliquescence.
Fairsky produces large-crystal cobalt nitrate and provides secure packaging to ensure stable storage and transportation.
