Is nickel nitrate hexahydrate the same as nickel nitrate?
No. Nickel nitrate hexahydrate (Ni(NO₃)₂·6H₂O) contains crystal water and is stable under normal conditions but can absorb moisture easily. Anhydrous nickel nitrate has no crystal water and different physical properties.
Under what conditions can nickel nitrate hexahydrate become hazardous?
As a strong oxidizing agent, it can react dangerously with reducing agents, organic materials, sulfur, phosphorus, or metal powders. It also decomposes at high temperatures (above about 110°C), releasing toxic nitrogen oxide gases.
Can nickel nitrate hexahydrate be shipped with other cargo in mixed DG containers?
Nickel nitrate hexahydrate is classified as Class 5.1 dangerous goods. It can only be shipped together with compatible Class 5.1 cargo. Fairsky has extensive experience exporting nickel nitrate with compliant DG packaging and documentation.
